CHAVA is born out of The Lily Project, a women's health NGO based in Nicaragua.
Serving thousands of women and girls, listening to their stories about the difficulties they face in receiving quality care and answers to even basic questions about their bodies, health and sexuality, we came to understand that the high rates of cervical cancer and teenage pregnancy have a common cause: lack of access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education and services.
The rest of the region is no exception, where:
70% of students in Latin America receive no formal sex education.
prevent girls from asking about their bodies and sexuality.
Lack of privacy
of personal information prevent women from seeking basic sexual health care.
CHAVA is a holistic solution, addressing both systemic and cultural needs. Today, the CHAVA team is testing the beta-version of its app in Mexico and Nicaragua and raising funds to launch throughout LATAM.
* When mentioning women and girls, we refer to any person who identifies as or has had experiences as a Latin American woman or girl.
A world where everyone is free to make informed decisions about their body, their health and their future.
CHAVA develops digital solutions that enable all young Latinas to become informed and confident advocates for their own sexuality, health, pleasure, education, and power to transform the state of sexual and reproductive health in Latin America.
